Featured Tuesday: Quotes from “All The Bright Places”

bright

There are some books you read and never think about again. Books that even though you liked, weren’t deep enough to touch you. There are some books, however, that stay with you for a long, long time and make you think for days, months or even years after you’ve read the final page and put the book down.Β All The Bright PlacesΒ was one of those books for me and while reading it I came across so many beautiful quotes that I loved, that made me cry and that I couldn’t stop thinking about, quotes that I had to write down because I didn’t want to forget. These are my favorite ones, the ones that made it into my ‘2015 Book Memories’ jar, and I decided it’s time to open that jar and share them with you πŸ™‚

“What if life could be this way? Only the happy parts, none of the terrible, not even the mildly unpleasant. What if we could just cut out the bad and keep the good? This is what I want to do with Violet – give her only the good, keep away the bad, so that good is all we ever have around us.” – Theodore Finch, page 168

“You deserve better. I can’t promise you I’ll stay around, not because I don’t want to… It’s hard to explain. I’m a fuckup. I’m broken and no one can fix it. I’ve tried. I’m still trying. I can’t love anyone because it’s not fair to anyone who loves me back. I’ll never hurt you. But I can’t promise I won’t pick you apart piece by piece, until you’re in a thousand pieces, just like me. You should know what you’re getting into before getting involved.”Β  – Theodore Finch, page 227

“Ultraviolet Remarkey-able I think I love you.” So that she doesn’t feel she has to say it back, I kiss her again and wonder if I dare do anything else, go any further, because I don’t want to ruin this moment. And then because I’m the one thinking too much, and because she’s different from all other girls and because I really, really don’t want to screw this up, I concentrate on kissing her on the banks of the Blue Hole, and I let that be enough. – Theodore Finch, page 228

Even when we weren’t wandering, even from the floor of your closet, you showed the world to me. I didn’t know that my life forever changing would be because you loved me and then left, and in such a final way. I’l never forgive you for leaving me. I just wish you could forgive me. This book is amazing! One of the best I’ve read in a long time. It is such a deep and honest story and I loved everything about it. The characters are awesome and Jennifer Niven’s writing was flawless. You won’t regret it, I promise πŸ˜‰ I got to warn you though, you’ll probably cry a lot.
