Halloween Movie Spookathon

Good morning and happy Halloween! One of my favorite days of the year is here, so I had to write a small blog post to celebrate! This one is not going to be bookish but I will be spending my day watching Halloween and spooky movies, so I figured it would be a good idea to share some of my favorites here! I’m not sure how many of these I’ll be able to watch but I’ll do my best! Here we go!

I don’t know about you but I love me a good Tim Burton movie and especially on Halloween! Corpse Bride is actually not my favorite among Tim Burton’s movies but I still think it’s brilliant and it’s definitely a fitting movie to watch on the spookiest day of the year!

Out of all the movies I’m going to mention here, this one is my absolutely favorite! There are no words to describe how much I love Jack and don’t even get me started about the songs! “This Is Halloween” has been stack in my head all month but I’m not complaining because I love it! I actually have a hard time figuring out whether I should categorize this as a Halloween or a Christmas movie but it is a story about the Pumpkin King so I guess Halloween has an edge. Though I can honestly watch it all year long and I’m actually typing this while it’s on TV! And if you don’t believe how obsessed with this movie I am, I will simply tell you that my nails currently have Jack painted on them! The perfect Halloween nail do!

6 Reasons Why It’s Awesome to be a Slytherin!

Let’s face it. Slytherin is a very misunderstood House. I’ve been sorted into Slytherin several times and I’m quite proud of my House but it’s pretty easy to be judged when you tell people you’re in Slytherin. Sure, it may have hosted some of the darkest wizards in history and sure, some of its students might be total gits, but not all Slytherins are as bad as people might imagine! In fact, I’d say being a Slytherin means you have some pretty great qualities, so here are a few reasons of why it’s awesome to be in Slytherin!

Some of the greatest wizards were in Slytherin!

When you think of Slytherin, the first thing that comes to mind is all the dark wizards that came from it. And sure, Slytherin might have produced the most dark wizards than all the other houses and the Dark Lord himself might have been sorted into it, but there are plenty of other great Slytherin alumni to look up to! Take Severus Snape for example! One of my favorite characters in the Harry Potter series and a great example of how misunderstood Slytherins are! I don’t think anyone liked Snape when he first made his appearance in The Philosopher’s Stone but he ended up giving his life for the greater good. A very un-Slytherin thing to do, right?

Candles, Bookmarks and Book Boxes

Happy Saturday everyone! Today I’m going to talk about my favorite bookish shops and businesses! As a booklover I love buying books but as a bookstagrammer I also love buying bookish merch and always love discovering new shops on Instagram! My favorite type of bookish merch is probably candles – I am undeniably obsessed with them – but bookmarks come a very close second and I absolutely love collecting them! I mean honestly, who can say no to bookmarks?

So today I’m going to talk a bit about my favorite bookmark and candle shops and throw in some book box love too because book boxes usually combine both and I absolutely love receiving them!

Book and Nook Shop

I ordered my very first bookish candles from this shop and have been a huge fan of it ever since! Bella’s candles are gorgeous and always smell amazing! Plus the glitter! I can never say no to the glitter! I own a bunch of Bella’s candles (she also has a monthly candle box and all the themes are amazing) but my absolute favorite one has always been her Sunai candle! It smells like apple which is my favorite and I have been obsessed with it ever since I took the first sniff! Unfortunately she has retired it from the shop but I managed to order myself a second one before she did so I’m planning to finally burn the first one very soon! I also adore her Parabatai candle which also smells incredibly and has the most gorgeous teal color!

Mid-month Check In and Randomness

Happy Sunday everyone! Finally found some time to blog today and since we’re literally half way through my favorite month, I figured a small check in was in order! I’ve had a very busy month so far but it was mostly the good kind of busy so I’m not complaining! So here we go!

Currently Reading

IMG_20171003_165936_FotorI’m currently reading Riders by Veronica Rossi and loving it! I’ve actually haven’t been reading as much as I wanted to this month and considering my very ambitious October TBR I’m not very happy about it but I’ll try to tackle as many books on it as I can!

Currently Listening

8667848Let’s start with the music! I’ve been obsessed with movie soundtracks lately! I love listening to my favorite bands and artists but epic soundtracks are my weakness! I’ve made a playlist with all my favorites and listen to it all. the. time! I’m actually thinking of doing a separate post about my list in case anyone is interested so keep an eye out for that during the week! You’ll see a lot of scores by Hans Zimmer because he’s is my favorite!

Music aside, I’m also listening to the audio book of A Discovery of Witches right now! I started it yesterday and I’m already hooked! Plus, books with witches and vampires make for very fitting October reads don’t you agree? Huge thanks to @thebookishbox and @audiobooks_com for the free book!

The “Autumn Time, Cozy Time” Book Tag

Happy Sunday everyone! I woke up feeling super productive this morning, so I decided a bit of blogging was in order! But since I don’t have much time because I’m working in the afternoon, I decided to go easy and do a tag! I love doing those and what better tag to do on a fine Autumn day than this one?

Crunching leaves: Choose a book that has reds, yellows and oranges on it.

IMG_20171004_145942_FotorThe first book that immediately sprang to mind for this was Illuminae! I’ve always been in love with the cover and it has such perfect colours for Autumn, doesn’t it?

Cozy sweater: What book gives you the warm fuzzy?

For this one, I decided to choose a childhood favorite! The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe has always been and will always be one of my favorite fantasy books and I always think of white forests and drinking tea by the fire when I pick it up! It’s also a very special book for me because it was one of the first I ever read, so it always gives me a warm feeling!

Featured Tuesday: Unicorn Farts and Love Potions

Guess what guys? Featured Tuesdays are back! I’m not sure whether I’ll be doing a Featured Tuesday every week but I will do them occasionally whenever I have something to talk about! This week’s post is all about Happy Piranha, one of my favorite candle companies! I’m currently repping for them and I’m having a blast taking photos of their amazing candles and interacting with the owners, Josh and Sam! Well basically, Featured Tuesday was an excuse for me to write this specific blog post, but roll with it!

Have you guys heard of Happy Piranha? If not, then I am sorry for you! You need the awesomeness that is Happy Piranha in your lives ASAP and I will tell you why very soon! But first, here’s a little info about the company in the words of Josh and Sam:

At Happy Piranha our ethos is simple – to work small scale, with big ideas, to create cute, quirky, inspired designs that stand out from the shoal.
We’re a twin project (literally), tucked away on the blustery Cornish coast. Josh gets on with it and Sam does the talking. It’s always been that way really and it’s worked out just fine so far.

There’s only two minutes between us and a further 25 years since. We still don’t agree who’s the red spinning top was.

Our products are part of a passion. They wind their way from conversations about the things we enjoy, to the ideas they inspire, to Josh’s pen and paper and then onto his computer. If we’re lucky, some make it into the homes of those of  you who share the sentiment.

Our candles are hand poured, the scents hand-picked, the designs hand drawn, the labels put on by hand… and then there’s the checking (by hand), the packing (by hand) and the typing –you guessed it – by hand, to bring it all to life.

We only have four hands between us, which is both unfortunate, and fortunate and true.

In 2015 Happy Piranha began as an interest on Etsy and curious pastime. Now it’s a passionate full time that often fills up the in between times too.

A lot of time goes into the delivery and design of our products and a lot of thought before that too.

Why do we do it?

Because it makes us a Happy Piranha,

And we hope it makes you one too!

Now, let’s get to the fun part! The candles! I currently own three full size ones (two of them came in rep packages and the other one was featured in a previous month’s Fairyloot) and I am obsessed with every single one of them! No, I am not exaggerating! I am honestly and undeniably obsessed! So much that I occasionally catch myself stopping in front of my bookshelf to grab and sniff one of their candles! But let me talk about each one of them individually!

My Very Spooky October TBR

What is this? Another blog post? Two days in a row? What is happening? It’s the first day of October that’s what’s happening! I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited for this month! I mean pumpkins! And fallen leaves! And pumpkin spice latte! And Halloween! What’s not to be excited about! Plus, my birthday’s in October so that’s another thing I’m looking forward to! No wonder October is my favorite month, right?

Anyways, on to my October TBR! I usually don’t set a TBR because I’m horrible at sticking to it but this month I decided to go for it! It’s actually a pretty ambitious one but I’m hoping my favorite season will inspire me to read more because I used to read ten books a month and now I read only one or two (if I read at all) so I really need to change that! And since October is the month for dark and spooky, I mostly chose dark and spooky reads!
