Happy new Year everyone! Can you believe 2017 is gone? Can’t say it was the best year for me (it had its ups and downs) but I’m really hoping 2018 will be amazing! New year means new goals, so I thought it would be fun to share my 2018 bookish resolutions!
Complete My Goodreads Reading Challenge
2017 was a pretty bad reading year for me. I’ve had some personal stuff to deal with which means I wasn’t in the mood to read and only managed to finish less than 20 books! So I’m determined to change that this year! I’ve set my Goodreads reading goal to 100 books which is pretty ambitious, I know, but I’m really hoping I will manage to complete it! I’ve acquired so many amazing books in 2017 and I really, really want to finally get to them this year!
Read More Diverse Books
This was a bookish resolution I set for myself last year but since I didn’t do much reading in 2017 I didn’t manage to complete it. I already have a few diverse reads sitting on my shelves so I’m really hoping I will be able to get to them soon! And of course, I’m always up for suggestions!
Delve Outside The Fantasy Genre
Fantasy has always been my favorite genre and the one I read the most! But this year I’ve decided to give some of the other genres a chance too! I’ve already read and loved a few contemporaries and hoping to read more but I would really like to focus more on mysteries and historical fiction! I’ve always loved the first but for some reason never seem to get to them and I finally read my first historical book this year and absolutely loved it! So I’m really hoping I can read more, with All The Light We Cannot See and The Bronze Horseman being on the top of my list!
Review More Books
2017 was also a pretty bad writing year for me for the same reasons it was a bad reading year! I didn’t do nearly enough writing or blogging but I’m determined to change that and soon! One of the things I want to focus on is writing more reviews for the books I read! I never seem to get to those and it’s a pity because I love writing them! I’ve starting using a tabbing system which is super helpful, so hopefully I can start working on reviews again soon!
Read Popular Books That I Never Seem To Get To
We all have those books or series that have been sitting on our shelves for years and we always tell ourselves we’re going to read but never do! One of these series is The Raven Cycle for me! I’ve heard so many amazing things about it and always plan on reading it but so far it hasn’t happened! I even went as far as to start the first book but had to put it down because of a horrible reading slump. So this year I’m planning on finally getting to The Raven Cycle as well as a few more popular books I still haven’t read but want to get to!
Finish More Series
For some reason, I always seem to stop in the middle of reading series, usually right before the last book! So this year, I’m planning on finishing all the series I’m currently in the middle of and will try to focus on that instead of starting new books! Pretty impossible since there are so many amazing books coming out in 2018 but I will do my best!
Be More Active on Bookstagram
And by being more active I mean get better at commenting and interacting with my followers! The past few months have been kinda crazy for me, mainly because I opened my Etsy shop and had to adjust my schedule to be able to work on it! Combined with the fact that I’m a college student and also work, my time was pretty limited so I’m sad to say I haven’t been very active on Instagram aside from posting. So this year I plan on being more active with liking and commenting on other people’s pics and also replying to comments on my own pics because I always seem to push back doing that!
Buy New Shelves
More of a goal rather than a resolution but I’m having a huge problem with space right now! I have a bunch of books and bookish merch that fit nowhere so I could really use an extra shelf! Hopefully soon because otherwise I’ll have to start piling my books on the floor! Not exactly the best solution!
And that was it for the first blog post of the year! See you all soon and hope you’ll have an amazing and very bookish 2018
